Abstract

Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage and control emotions. Emotional intelligence is needed to achieve success in living a life full of challenges. This ability should be instilled in children from an early age to be firmly entrenched and animate the child's behavior. The family is the smallest social group, first and foremost where the child learns anything, through habituation and modeling. The pattern of parenting is the responsibility of the family, because it can affect in shaping the child's behavior. The provision of good and appropriate parenting can create a child's character who is ready to face situations in the future and can develop the child's potential for success. Emotional social intelligence and permissive parenting has a positive but insignificant effect on the development of children's emotional social intelligence, but it all depends on the goals of parents wanting children to have the personality that parents expect.
