Tradisi Perjamuan Tahlilan

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the tahlil tradition in the context of living hadith. The theories and approaches in this study are functional theory, conflict and urf to explain the challenges and responses. With a functional approach, it can be found the function of the death supper, in the context of the Jinggotan Village in Jepara Regency Central of Java (with the tradition of ngrayani and tahlil banquet on the first to the seventh day), as a tool to gather the community, as more people follow tahlilan then the happier family of the deceased. The approach to conflict resolution as a tool to read between the pros and cons of the ban on tahlil, so that each can position themselves proportionally, mutual appreciation and not reproach each other, let alone forgive. This approach, then supported by the urf approach as a tool to read how a tradition can be used as a legal basis, namely the ability or inability of something. And in this case, the tradition of tahlil death is not a tradition that violates religious teachings.
