THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE JABARIYAH TEOLOGICAL PRACTICE WITH POVERTY OF THE FISHERMEN IN KUALA LANGSA ACEH
Abstract
This article describes the relationship between Jabariyah theological practice and its relevance with the poverty levels in Kuala Langsa, Aceh. The teachings of islamic theology is the fundamental side of religion. The application of religion in the empirical dimension is the manifestation of human understanding to Gods will. In Islam, humans are demanded to be active in developing sefl-potency, and give efforts to change his destiny. However, in reality, fishermens in Kuala Langsa performing religion are in poverty. Therefore, this article explores the relationship between the concepts of Jabariyah theology with poverty levels in Kuala Langsa. The research used functional approach in seeing the symptoms of the society by means of observing the daily economic practice and religion of Kuala Langsa. The article obtained the relationship of Jabariyah by fishermens of Kuala Langsa with the poverty in Kuala Langsa. There is a fatalistic understanding strongly held by the fishermens in Kuala Langsa in understanding the concepts of destiny and the ability of humans in making efforts..
