Abstrak   Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah apa saja jenis kohesi dan koherensi yang digunakan dan bagaimana kekohesifan dan kekoherensian dalam surat dinas di kantor Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Prabumulih. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan jenis kohesi dan koherensi, serta kekohesifan dan kekoherensian dalam surat dinas di kantor Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Prabumulih. Metode penelitiannya, deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan check list dalam pengumpulan datanya. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah surat dinas yang berjumlah 23 surat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data surat dinas yang dikeluarkan kantor Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Prabumulih dapat diketahui, bahwa penggunaan jenis penanda kohesi gramatikal berjumlah 185 penanda dan kohesi leksikal berjumlah 32 penanda. Jenis koherensi yang berjumlah 27 penanda. Secara keseluruhan kekohesifan dapat dikategorikan sangat baik 88,7 % dan kekoherensian dapat dikategorikan sangat baik 91,6 %. Dengan demikian kohesi dan koherensi surat dinas di kantor Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Prabumulih sudah baik.   Kata Kunci: kohesi, koherensi, dan surat dinas       Abstract   The problem of this research is what types of cohesion and coherence are used and how cohesiveness and coherence in official letters at the education and cultural office of Prabumulih city. The objective of this research is to describe the types of cohesion and coherence, as well as cohesiveness and coherence in official letters in the office of the Education and Culture Office of Prabumulih City. The research method is qualitative descriptive by using technique of communication, observation, and documentation. Sources of data in this study are official letters totaling 23 letters. Based on the data analysis of official letters issued by the Office of Education and Culture of Prabumulih City, it can be seen that there are 185 markers of grammatical cohesion markers and 32 markers of lexical cohesion. This type of coherence is 27 markers. Overall cohesiveness can be categorized as very good 88.7% and coherence can be categorized as very good 91.6%. The conclusions of this research is cohesion and coherence of official letters in the Office of Education and Culture of Prabumulih city is good.   Keywords: cohesion, coherence, and official letters.
