Antagonist Figures in the Qur’anic Stories

Abstract

Abstract Al-Qur'an is a source of learning from all sciences, both religious and scientific. Learning is not only derived from legal verses, because it is dominated by verses stories in the Al-Qur'an that are more effective to be of human concern. However, taking lessons in general from the Al-Qur'an story only refers to the protagonist only, while the antagonist self is only as a complement to the narrative of the story. In the Qur'an, the antagonists are divided into three types based on the vision of the role and position of each character; namely the antagonist of the king, the antagonist of the bureaucrats, the antagonist of the prophet’s family. Each of the antagonists has bad character and negative value and some of them also have good character and positive value on him. We found similarities in the value and character of the antagonists in the Al-Qur’an story with the characters that lived today.
