Solutions to the preservation and development of traditional craft villages in Quang Nam

Abstract

Traditional craft villages play an important role in Vietnam’s economy. In addition, they have left bold imprints on the culture of the Vietnamese nation, contributing to the regional culture identity in the multi-colour picture of the Vietnamese culture. Traditional craft villages have experienced an age-old history of formation and development in Quang Nam, the so-called “land of hundreds of crafts”. However, these tradtional craft villages are being affected by the current process of socio-economic development. This requires seeking to propose solutions for the preservation and development of craft villages, thereby facilitating the sustainable socio-economic growth and the conservation of traditional cultural values of the locality. Up to now, there has not been any study meeting the above requirements. Based on published previous studies and field trip results, this article is an attempt to address the problem raised above.
