Ordination decrees in the residence of the Thai family

Abstract

The residence of the Thai family (Sa Dec city) currently preserves 12 precious ordination decrees granted under the Latter Le dynasty and the Nguyen dynasty. These are the ordination decrees bestowed on the subjects who contributed to the country. Especially, three ordination decrees conferred in the year Canh Hung 41 (1748) have been discovered, which proves to be a rare case of Latter-Le conferment in the Southwest region of Viet Nam. In the present context of documentation, this source of data provides valuable information to complement the profiles of local historical figures whom little is known about, e.g. Nguyen Van Thong, Thai Gia Quan and Thai Quy Cong; also, this serves as an additional base to reaffirm exploits and high esteem which the Vietnamese reigns reserved for outstanding predecessors such as Tran Quoc Tuan, Tran Thu Do, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Tong Phuoc Hiep, Nguyen Huu Nhan, Le Van Duyet, Tong Phuoc Hoa.
