Optimization on extracting condition in ethanol to collect dried residue from Eurycoma Longifolia jack root and applicating in eurycoma longifolia pennywort juice processing

Abstract

Eurycoma longifolia Jack root extraction in ethanol has high medicinal value and can be applied to produce health food. This study was conducted to optimize some factors affecting on extraction of dried residue from Eurycoma longifolia Jack root by distillation in ethanol: Extraction temperature at 83.2oC, in 202.2 minutes with 80% ethanol solvent and the ratio between solvent and material is 20/1 (mL/g) for the highest efficiency of 7.2%. Evaluating quality of Eurycoma longifolia pennywort juice with the results of evaluation and sensory audit for the product range from slightly favourite to relatively favourite, meeting food hygiene and safety standards prescribed by the Ministry of Health.
