The roles of energy storage systems in stabilizing frequency of the islanded microgrid
Abstract
The microgrid is considered as a solution to integrate renewable energy resources into current power systems. However, the output power from these energy sources varies depending on weather and environment conditions, thereby making it difficult to stabilize the Microgrid’s output power and frequency when it is operated in islanded mode. Therefore, it is necessary for the Microgrid to include a source capable of promptly meeting the changes of renewable sources to stabilize the system. Energy storage systems are charaterized by prompt response and stabilization. This article focuses on analyzing, modeling and evaluating the roles of the energy storage system in stabilizing the frequency of the islanded Microgrid. The research results are demonstrated via simulation results using the Matlab/Simulink software.
