Stability analysis of the downstream slope of Dien Truong earth dam in Quangngai province
Abstract
The Dien Truong reservoir project plays an important role in ensuring domestic water supply and irrigation for 500 hectares of rice and crops in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province. The current situation of instability is that through the earth dam body located at the watercourse, cracks appear in the body of the earth dam near the spillway; the crack is located at the dam face and along the length of the dam body. This paper focuses on the stability analysis of downstream slope of an earth dam at Dien Trương reservoir. The Plaxis software is used to model the earth dam and determine the stability coefficients. The result shows that the downstream stability coefficients of representive cross section aren1,088 <[Kcp]. The result has demonstrated the earth dam is not stable.
