Review on the energy consumption determining on the CNC machining

Abstract

- In the current Industry of 4.0 era, energy has become a vital factor in the industrial production of every nation. Saving energy and using energy efficiently are the most feasible solutions and are within the capabilities of production. In order to do this, it is necessary to have an accurate calculation model of energy consumed in the production process. This paper presents the results of a survey of research projects published in the last 10 years about modeling energy consumption during cutting operations on the Computer Numerical Control machine (CNC). The energy calculation models in general and the method of calculating each of these components, in particular, are considered. Besides, this study also focuses on used materials, research methods, types of machining, and machining strategies on CNC machines. The results of the analysis and evaluation can be consulted to propose research directions, solutions to meet the requirements of improving the efficiency of using energy during machining process.
