Measuring entrepreneurial ecosystem for innovative startups at the city level
Abstract
This study aims to measure the development of entrepreneurial ecosystem for innovative startups at the city level, particularly in Hanoi and suggests policy recommendations. Based on the results of in-depth interviews and documentary content analysis, our research concludes that the entrepreneurial ecosystem for innovative startups in Hanoi is reaching level 3, that is, accelerated startup ecosystem, according to the SCMM framework. Particularly, policies, financial capital, human capital, density of entrepreneurial activities and supporting organizations have reached the level corresponding to the accelerating ecosystem. The entrepreneurial culture only reaches level that is corresponding to the basic ecosystem level. In the coming time, the city needs to build a innovation center; spreading entrepreneurship culture; improve the quality of human resources; support innovative startups and the establishment of angel investor networks.
