Evaluation of temperature comforts at Tra Vinh University
Abstract
This article presents survey results and evaluation of temperature comforts for naturally ventilated classrooms and air-conditioned offices at Tra Vinh University. The objective comfort temperatures were evaluated via the conventional and recently adjusted Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) formulas. The survey results show that there are discrepancies in comfort and preferred temperatures between naturally ventilated and air-conditioned modes, morning and afternoon, objective and subjective states. In addition, thanks to the application of the recently adjusted PMV, the gap between objective and subjective comfort temperatures has been bridged compared to previous research works in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. The study also indicates that none of the naturally ventilated classrooms meets students’requirements for comfort temperatures.
