A guide to the terms and nomenclature in inorganic chemistry in the new general educational curriculum

Abstract

- In response to the new 2018 General Educational Curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Training, chemical terms and nomenclature are Anglicized in reference to IUPAC recommendations, replacing the available that were Vietnamized and transliterated. This reform is to aim at current education and in turn meets the requirements of standardization and integration. In this paper, we compare the current education system and the new one on the basis of both differences and similarities inherent in the chemical terms and nomenclature. Besides, the new naming process of inorganic compounds including oxide, hydroxide, acid, and salt is also detailed. The results of this process are used for naming some common compounds in the new General Education Curriculum.
