AN ANALYSIS OF USING GUIDED IMAGERY STRATEGY IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION AT THE 3rd SEMESTER STUDENTS OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT AT IKIP GUNUNGSITOLI YEAR 2017/2018

Abstract

Reading comprehension is highly essential for college students. With its high function, teaching reading comprehension with strategy is highly expected. Guided Imagery Strategy is one strategy used in teaching reading comprehension. Through this research, the using of Guided Imagery Strategy in teaching reading comprehension was analyzed. The purpose was to reveal the real impact of using this strategy in teaching reading comprehension. The samples were 30 students of class B (3rd semester) of English Department at IKIP Gunungsitoli, year 2017/2018. The research was conducted in descriptive qualitative analysis. The data was gathered through the observation sheets, field notes and interviews. The result revealed the change of students’ interest (personality change) in learning reading comprehension that impacted the students’ achievement in middle semester test.
