THE FUNCTIONS OF CODE-SWITCHING IN EFL CLASSROOM ACTIVITY AT ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM OF IKIP GUNUNGSITOLI 2018
Abstract
This study was to know the functions of code-switching in English foreign language classroom activity by using conversation analysis approach by focussing on a number of conversational functions of code-switching (quotations, addressee specification, interjections, reiteration, message qualification and personalization versus objectivization). As the result, it was found the frequency of code-switching functions are classified into six parts – Reiteration (25,34%), Message qualification (41,78%), Interjection (0%), Quotation (0,68%, Addressee specification (32,19%), and Personalization versus objectivization (0%).
