WRITING SIMPLE SENTENCES BY USING QuIP (QUESTIONS INTO PARAGRAPHS) STRATEGY FOR THE EIGHTH GRADER

Abstract

Writing is defined to be one of the language skill that has to be learnt by the students based on some writing syllabus of the Eighth Grader, which expected the students to be able to write the simple sentences. The students should understand the social function, text structure and the language feature from the simple sentences based on the used context. However, the expectation of the syllabus could not be achieved yet because the students were not able to write the simple sentences. Therefore, the researcher dealt with the students’ problems by offering Questions Into Paragraphs (QuIP) Strategy. QuIP (Questions Into Paragraphs) Strategy, a technique that involves graphically organizing information and synthesizing in writing. The purpose of this research was to increase the students’ ability in writing simple sentences by using QuIP Strategy at the eighth grade students. The researcher applied Classroom Action Research as the research design which consisted of two cycles and two meetings for each cycle. The procedures were planning, action, observation, and reflection.The finding implied that the students’ ability in writing simple sentences by using QuIP strategy had increased.
