The research is aimed at knowing whether Discovery Learning Model is more effectively to increase the students’ ability in mathematics communication and students’ learning motivation. Kinds of the research design is quasi experimental. Population in the research is the seventh graders of second semester of junior high school state 2 Alasa year 2018/2019. Sample in the research is the seventh graders one as experimental class and the seventh graders two as control class. The research instrument used is mathematical ability test. The obtained data are analyzed by using inferential statistics. Based on the students’ mean score of the result of mathematics communication ability of the posttest is 74,54 for experimental class whereas 58,92 is in control class. Furthermore, on the whole the students’ motivation percentage in experimental class is categorized high, while in control class is categorized moderate so that it is concluded that to implement Discovery Learning Model mathematics learning is more effectively to increase the students’ mathematics communication ability and motivation.
