ANALYSIS ON SPEECH WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY SENIOR HIGH/VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDONESIA REPUBLIC-71 AT KOTA GUNUNGSITOLI

Abstract

The research was done to investigate the students of secondary high schools surroundings at Kota Gunungsitoli, how the students prepare themselves before they join the English speech contest, how the students organize their ideas in written speech, how the students perform their written speech, and what the students’ errors in writing and performing their English speech in front of the public when celebrating Independence Day of Indonesia Republic -71. As the research findings after implementing descriptive qualitative research design, most of the students used the ungrammatical language, improper diction, disconnected paragraphs, inappropriate discourse markers, and lost main ideas; moreover conclusions and suggestions are so far to the content they wrote.
