INCREASING THE STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN SPEAKING BY USING MEMORY GAME AT THE EIGHT GRADE OF SMP NEGERI 4 SIROMBU
Abstract
Speaking is one of the language skills that must be mastered by the students at school besides reading, listening and writing. Speaking is one of the most difficult aspects for the students, that is why teaching speaking is generally felt challenging, especially for students in SMP 4 Sirombu, because it needs more attractiveness. The purpose of the research is to increase the students of the eighth grade of SMP 4 Sirombu’s ability in speaking. Based on the data analysis in cycle I, the percentage of the students’ activities is 79,44% (good). In this cycle the students cannot achieve the Minimum Competency Criteria which is 65, the students’ average score is 43.38. All the students get a score ? of 65, as the highest score is 56 and the lowest score is 33. Furthermore, in cycle 2 the percentage of the researcher’s done activities is 100% (excellent) and the percentage of the students’ done activities is 96.11% (very good). In this cycle, the students have achieved the minimum competence criteria, where the students’ average score is 71.76 (adequate). No one of the students gets a score of less than 65 as the highest score is 84 and the lowest is 65. Based on the result of the research can be concluded that Memory Game can increase the students’ ability in speaking.
