Abstract This article discusses the phenomenon of fundamentalism in an anthropological perspective. This article is based on library research. The approach used is descriptive qualitative which aims to provide an overview or describe the actual reality of the object under study which is then interpreted in the form of a report. The results of this study indicate that the thought of the phenomenon of fundamentalism arises as a result of the desire of Muslims to practice religion in people's lives. Continuous conflict with various ideas and ideas from the West in the form of modernism and the existence of psychological problems in the pioneers, followers and the people around them. Keywords; Fundamentalism, Religious Anthropology, Islam   Abstrak Artikel ini membahas tentang fenomena fundamentalisme dalam perspektif antropologi. Artikel ini berbasis studi kepustakaan (library research). Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk memberi gambaran atau mendeskripsikan kenyataan yang sebenarnya pada obyek yang diteliti yang kemudian diinterprestasikan dalam bentuk laporan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa pemikiran fenomena fundamentalisme muncul sebagai akibat dari keinginan pemeluk agama Islam untuk mempraktekkan agama dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Konflik yang terus menerus dengan berbagai ide dan gagasan dari Barat dalam wujud modernisme dan adanya problem psikologis dalam diri pelopor, pengikut dan orang-orang di sekitarnya.
