Tone mapping operators based on separable non-linear multiresolution families with polynomial interpolation
Abstract
This paper proposes High Dynamic Range (HDR) Image Tone Mapping Operators (TMOs). An HDR image will be separate into approximation parts, thanks to downsampling or averaging operator, and detail parts. The later part uses polynomial interpolation, which has the advantages of the singularities such as, firstly, edge points of the image thus preserving the structural information of the HDR image, secondly, solving the Gibbs phenomenon, which is harmful in tone mapped images. The quality assessment of the tone mapped images is measured by the TMQI metric. Simulation results show that the proposed TMOs provide good results compared to traditional TMO strategies.
