Design of a Press for RDF Production from Household Waste

Abstract

Energy recovery from solid waste through RDF production is a technological measure for thorough treatment of solid waste, minimizing waste that needs to be buried and limiting pollutant gases emissions. RDF quality depends on the fuel compositions and the manufacture conditions. Thus, the optimal parameters are needed for RDF production from given wastes. Hydraulic type press with 80mm-diameter cylinder, 140-bar oil pressure, compression section with connical angle less than 45 degrees are suitable for RDF pressing test conditions of wastes from Danang City. The outside surface of the mold is heated by a controlable heating source. The maximum temperature is found in the outside surface of the RDF as leaving the mold. The surface structure of RDF is affected by this temperature.
