Efforts to Improve Understanding of the Concept of Numbers 1-20 through the use of playing methods
Abstract
Learning activities in grade I of Elementary School require a seriousness in delivering learning material, because children aged in grade I of Elementary School still have psychological factors that are very unstable like children. Especially during mathematics lessons, students feel bored with mathematics, many students do not understand the material given. Based on these conditions the researcher tries to provide a mathematics teaching learning design that is oriented towards active, innovative, creative, effective, fun learning using the play learning method. In the first activity cycle, some students still seemed to pay less attention to learning activities, while some other students felt interested in participating in learning. Then after evaluating or reflecting the results are still many that have not reached the Minimum Completeness Criteria. After the activity in cycle I, the researcher corrected the deficiencies that occurred in cycle I. In cycle II the learning media was added and the learning process was packaged so as to attract students to be active in learning activities. The results of the second cycle were considered satisfactory. All students have been able to achieve the Minimum Completeness Criteria score. From the activities of cycle I and cycle II, it can be concluded that mathematics learning activities on the material of understanding the concept of numbers 1-20 in grade 1 elementary school can be increased by using the playing method.
