Efforts to Improve Children's Speaking Skills through the Use of Hand Puppet Media in TK Nurul Amal Perumnas Cirebon

Abstract

The ability to speak is an important thing for every child to have. Children's speaking ability will also have an impact on intelligence, usually children who have high intelligence will learn to speak easily, quickly understand other people's conversations and have more vocabulary. However, the ability to master speaking skills will not grow by itself, but must go through a learning process and stimuli from the child's immediate environment. The quality of learning in improving children's speaking skills will increase if learning activities use concrete media, considering that children's development at that time is in a concrete period, meaning that children are better taught using something that is real so that it directs children's interest and attention. The method used in this study is a classroom action research method to improve children's speaking skills. The subjects of this study were children of group B TK Nurul Amal Perumnas Cirebon. The results showed that the activities in the first cycle showed that only a few children had good speaking skills, the weakness in the first cycle was the inaccurate use of the child's pronunciation or intonation to speak. In cycle II activities the child's speaking ability has improved. Learning activities are also interesting and children are active in participating in learning activities. From the results of the study it can be concluded that there is an increase in the speaking ability of students after the implementation of learning with the use of hand puppet media.
