Application of the Inquiry Approach in Learning Social Science to Improve the Quality of Learning
Abstract
This research is based on the fact that in elementary schools the learning process is still not optimal. Teachers still use conventional methods in carrying out learning activities. So that the result is students become bored and in the end the quality of learning is still low. This is evidenced by the scores of students in social science subjects who still have not reached the KKM score. The use of an inquiry approach is expected to improve the quality and learning outcomes. This research method uses a classroom action research method in class V students using III cycles. The purpose of this study was to describe the social science learning objectives on the subject matter by applying the Inquiry approach to learning models to improve the quality of learning for fifth grade elementary school students. The research approach used in this research is Classroom Action Research. In cycle I activities, increasing learning using the ikuiri approach only shows an average value of 67.92 and there are still many students who have not reached the KKM score. Whereas in cycle II learning activities increased by an average of 77.50 and in cycle III learning outcomes increased quite satisfactorily where student scores showed an average of 89.16 and all students had reached the KKM score. So it can be concluded that teaching and learning activities using the inquiry approach have been able to improve the quality and satisfactory learning outcomes.
