Sifat Keras Permukaan Material Baja Karbon Grade A36 dengan Variasi Metode Hard Surfacing

Abstract

The surface hardness of steel material is very necessary for land scraping equipment and rocks and one of them is used on bucket dredgers which often bending and fracture. This research is to examine the quality o  hardness of A36 grade steel material after done various surface hardening treatments with bending and  ardness testing. Surface hardening of A36 grade steel is carried out with variations of hard facing methods, buttering, and layered buttering. The testing procedure uses the ASME IX standard. From the tests conducted, it was obtained that the buttering method had the highest bending strength value of 14.80 KN compared to the 11.56 KN layered buttering method and hard facing 7.9 KN. Hardness value of material with hard facing method 638,033 HV, buttering 630,34 HV and layered buttering 483,883 HV. The results of the research with bending and hardness testing obtained the ductility and hardness of A36 grade steel material. So it can be concluded that the buttering method is the most appropriate for the surface hardening process on bucket dredge material because it has a fairly good ductility and hardness value.
