Tulisan ini mengangkat pemaknaan yang berbeda terhadap empat tokoh perempuan yang hidup di sebuah desa yang sama, yaitu Desa Tungkal dalam novel Suti karya Sapardi Djoko Damono (2015). Pemaknaan terhadap diri perempuan menggunakan metode anaisis teks dengan teknik analisis sudut pandang, latar sosial dan perilaku tokoh, pandangan tokoh lain, dan narasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis terungkap bahwa tokoh perempuan dalam novel Suti dimaknai sebagai perempuan yang tidak ajeg (tidak stabil) karena mereka berasal dari latar belakang yang berbeda walaupun mereka hidup di desa yang sama. Stratifikasi sosial, kontrol sosial, dan situasi tubuh perempuan yang berbeda menyebabkan pemaknaan terhadap diri tokoh perempuan dalam novel Suti hadir dengan cara yang diinginkan oleh situasi tersebut.(This paper raise a different meaning for the four female leaders who live in the same village, namely Tungkal in the novel Suti by Sapardi Djoko Damono (2015) The meaning of women will be carried out using the text analysis method. The meaning of the female character is done by analyzing the point of view, social background and character behavior, the views of other characters, and narratives. Based on the results of the analysis revealed that the female characters in Suti's novel are interpreted as women who are not stable because they come from different backgrounds even though they live in the same village. Social stratification, social control, and different situations of women's bodies cause the meaning of the female character in the novel Suti to be present in the manner desired by the situation.)
