KEBANGKITAN SEKOLAH ELITE MUSLIM DI INDONESIA
Abstract
This paper is aimed at revealing the rise of elite Islamic schools in Indonesia and constitutes a reflection of the scarcity of Muslim scholars, leaders and scientists. The first elite Islamic school is the Al-Azhar Islamic school located in the Grand Mosque of Al-Azhar Kebayoran Baru, an elite area in South Jakarta and at present there have already been many elite Islamic schools in Indonesia. The elite schools are also in the form of Madrasa that has 3 functions, firstly as a means of transfering Islamic knowledge; secondly, as a means of maintaining Islamic tradition, thirdly as a means of producing ulema (Muslim scholars).Keyword: Elite Islamic schools, Muslim scholars, madrassa
