KUALIFIKASI DAN KUANTITAS GURU PAUD DI PROVINSI BENGKULU

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the problems of qualification and quantity of early childhood education program teachers in Bengkulu. Type of this research was field research using qualitative approach.Results of this study is a requirement to become a teacher of Early- chilhood education program that has a diploma of PGPAUD bachelor, PGRA bachelor, or developmental psychology. In Bengkulu province there are 2,662 Early-childhood education program school with total of students are 131.076, Early-childhood teachers are 15,609 and ratio is 1: 9. The cause low percentage of teacher who have an PGPAUD bachelor's certificate is influenced by two factors, namely:Internal and external factors. Internal factors,  such as: lack of motivation  and interest of students who want to study in Early childhood education program, the number of community to be a early childhood teacher enough with a high school diploma course, the community thingking that the deputy of early childhood teacher only as honorarium or contract teacher, no appointment to be a government employees, so no need spend money just to get bachelor graduated for be early childhood teachers. In External factors, such as the sociaty still thingking that be early childhood teachers are second-class professions; also minimum salary of early childhood teachers. Then,  the lack of facilities and infrastructure in early childhood institutions, low awareness of parents to sending his son to study in early childhood education program; the early childhood study program is relatively new compared to other education program.
