Ritual Tradition Buka Luwur (A Media Islamic Values and Social Values in The Kudus Society)
Abstract
The Aim of this research is to study Buka Luwur ritual as a media of religious value and culture, and to know its functions and factors that make it a tradition. In this research the writer use sociological approach, interview in gathering data and interpretative analysis. From this research we can find fourth aspects. Firstly, this tradition has good model values, therefore it is necessary to be continued and bequeathed from generation to generation. Secondly, the understanding of muslim society on the holy Quran relates to the content of local tradition and also the non muslim influence. Thirdly, Buka Luwur tradition in Kudus is religious ceremony used to celebrate Khaul as well as ziarah for Sunan Kudus. Fourthly, the united in society runs well if their existences are tied up and supported by living culture. Buka Luwur tradition in Kudus has a big function to unite many group in society, to be social glue, to strenghten the faith to the invisible things and to keep the balance and the harmony from periode to periode.
