Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses terbentuknya stigma dan faktor-faktor penyebab munculnya stigma sosial pada keluarga miskin pasien gangguan jiwa. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Subyek penelitian ini berjumlah dua orang yang tinggal di sekitar tempat tinggal keluarga pasien. Teknik penggalian data dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang diperoleh, didapatkan bahwa stigma yang terbentuk pada subyek laki-laki dan subyek perempuan melalui proses isyarat, stereotip, dan prasangka. Pada analisis tentang faktor penyebab terbentuknya stigma didapatkan bahwa subyek laki-laki memiliki dua faktor dan subyek perempuan memiliki tiga faktor yang membentuk stigma. Penelitian ini menemukan tiga fakta baru yaitu subyek laki-laki dan subyek perempuan memiliki sikap positif terhadap kontak sosial dengan pasien dan tidak memunculkan diskriminasi, bersikap terbuka dan tidak menjauhi F beserta keluarganya, serta muncul sikap simpati dari masyarakat.Kata kunci: stigma sosial, keluarga miskin, gangguan jiwa The focus of this study was to find out the process of the stigma formation and the factors leading to the emergence of social stigma attached to poor family of a mental patient. The approach used in this study was a qualitative approach with the case study method. The subjects were two people living in the neighborhood of a patient's family in Martapura, Banjar Regency. The data were collected by interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of data analysis showed that there was stigma formation on male and female subjects through process of cues, stereotypes, and prejudices. The analysis of the factors leading to the stigma formation indicated that the male subject had two factors and the female three factors. There were new findings in this study, namely the presence of a positive attitude in social contact to the patient and there was no discrimination, open attitude and not staying away from the patient and family, as well as the sympathy from the society.Keywords: social stigma, poor family, mental disorder
