Abstract

To exist, a cosmopolitan literary movement is a must for anational literature. This means that the national literaturemust consider the entire humankind as more meaningfulthan its group, region or state. Cosmopolitanism views allraces and all continents with the same human interest andconcern. In additions, two consequences come up with, theinfluenced literature and/or the influencing literature. As adynamic organism, Arabic literature has beencosmopolitanizing itself especially since its reviving ageback in the end of 18th century and in the first quarter of 19 century. New genres, themes, styles, theories as well ascriticisms have been adopted. By doing so, Arabic literaturehas come to the same level as other literary cannons in theworld. In turn, cosmopolitanism of Arabic literaturenourishes the comparative literary study.
