ASESMEN KEBUTUHAN UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN KURIKULUM PROGRAM STUDI PENDIDIKAN ILMU PENGETAHUAN SOSIAL FAKULTAS TARBIYAH UNIVERSITAS ISLAM NEGERI (UIN) MALANG

Abstract

The research problems of this study are: (1) How the content of 2006 curriculum for economic and the curriculum of social science of the primary and secondary school is? (2) How is the response of the alumni for the content of the curriculum? (3) What kind of curriculum of social science that is appropriate for the expectation of the society. The research method used in this study in order to answer the research problems is comparative non-hypothesis research. This study is conducted by comparing the standard competence of economic and social science of the primary and secondary school with the curriculum of social science (which is prepared by the student teacher of the program). Moreover, the data are obtained by using questioner and interview with the alumni of the program to strengthen the research findings from the documentary research of the document of the curriculum. The findings indicate that (1) the content of the economic curriculum did not change significantly compared with the previous curriculum, while the content of social science of 2006 curriculum is given as integrated science. It is different from 1994 curriculum where the content of social science was given separately. (2) the response of the alumni indicate the positive response since most of the alumni state that the knowledge they get could support their careers, and (3) In order to prepare economic teacher, it can be considered that the recent curriculum is very valuable, while for the specific program it is considered less valuable. Therefore, the researcher recommends making a team of curriculum improvement for social science who concentrate to the education of integrated social science. This team is suggested to have some staff: (1) theĀ  official staff of the faculty (2) the organizers of the program, (3) the alumni and (4) theĀ  teachers as the team of social science teacher, and also any other stakeholders.Keyword: Assesment, Improving, curriculum, IPS
