Abstract

Currently the world of education has undergone a curriculum change that requires contextual learning, in which the concept of learning helps teachers link the material being taught with the real situation of students and encourages the knowledge they have with its application in everyday life. The researcher offers the local culture of the Ngabang Malay community, namely Betungkal, to be included in the teaching material for Islamic religious education at the elementary school level for grade 3 even semester on the theme of gratitude. Betungkal is a hereditary culture from the ancestors of the Ngabang Malay community which is still being carried out today, where this is an expression of gratitude for all gifts from God, both in gratitude for abundant sustenance and gratitude for getting calamities to avoid calamities or reinforcements. disaster. Betungkal culture is very fitting to be used as an example in gratitude material.
