Abstract: The purpose of this research is to redefine the identity of the person chosen by God based on the concept of "salt of the earth" according to Matthew 5:13. The life of a believer or church needs to be a blessing to others and play its function as it should. However, the phenomenon of the life of believers today is far from this ideal. In this way, it is hoped that efforts to re-understand the meaning of "salt of the world" will help the church/believers to return to playing their function as a messenger of divine holiness and a bringer of peace. Based on literature research, the method used is content analysis, which requires researchers to sort, process, and analyze literature related to the theme raised, this research finds that being salt of the world is God's will and the identity of believers or churches. The church must and must be the salt of the world, otherwise the church is losing its identity and role in society. In fact, society and the world need churches/believers in the midst of their struggles.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memaknai kembali identitas orang yang dipilih Allah berdasarkan konsep “garam dunia” menurut Matius 5:13. Kehidupan orang percaya atau gereja perlu menjadi berkat bagi sesama dan memainkan fungsinya seperti seharusnya. Namun, fenomena kehidupan orang percaya saat ini jauh dari harapan ideal tersebut. Dengan begitu, upaya memahami kembali makna “garam dunia” diharapkan dapat menolong gereja/orang percaya untuk kembali memainkan fungsinya sebagai penyebar kekudusan ilahi dan pembawa damai. Berbasis pada penelitian kepustakaan, metode yang digunakan adalah analisis konten, yang mengharuskan peneliti memilah, mengolah, dan menganalisis literatur terkait tema yang diangkat, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa menjadi garam dunia adalah kehendak Allah dan identitas orang percaya atau gereja. Gereja pasti dan harus menjadi garam dunia, kalau tidak, gereja sedang kehilangan identitas dan perannya di tengah masyarakat. Padahal, masyarakat dan dunia membutuhkan gereja/orang percaya di tengah-tengah pergumulan mereka.
