Dai dan umat Islam masih sedikit yang produktif menghasilkan artikel dakwah yang ilmiah. Salah satu sebabnya karena mengalami kesulitan di tahap awal penulisan, yakni tahap menetapkan topik penulisan. Kesulitan yang sering dihadapi seputar tidak ada ide untuk dituliskan, tidak menemukan persoalan yang menarik untuk ditulis, topik terlalu luas, dan tidak memiliki ilmu pengetahuan terkait untuk menjawab persoalan yang dipilih. Maka, perlu dilatih menerapkan prosedur menetapkan topik. Namun belum ada referensi mengenai prosedurnya. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menemukan prosedur menetapkan topik untuk menulis artikel dakwah bagi penulis pemula. Untuk mengkaji hal tersebut, penulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi lapangan. Merancang prosedur menetapkan topik untuk diterapkan pada pelatihan penulis pemula. Kemudian mengevaluasi penerapan prosedur tersebut dalam rangka menemukan prosedur baru. Prosedur baru yang ditemukan: memilih konsep atau teori yang pernah dipelajari dan diminati, menggali ide dari sumber data tertentu, menghubungkan pengembangan ide sesuai karakter media artikel pemikiran Islam dan pemecahan masalah sosial, memastikan proses pengembangan tersebut berangkat dari fakta umum, memunculkan berbagai rumusan masalah dari hasil pengembangan ide, menseleksi berbagai alternative rumusan masalah yang bisa dipecahkan dengan konsep atau teori yang sudah ditentukan di nomor 1, memastikan topik tersebut belum pernah dibahas, menemukan keunikan dari topik, menentukan simpulan dan pertanggungjawaban sementara atas topik yang sudah dipilih berdasarkan cara bekerjanya teori atau konsep yang digunakan, menyimpulkan topiknya, dan merepetisi kembali langkah-langkah tersebut.    Abstract: Only a few preachers and Muslims are productive in producing scientific da'wah articles. One reason is because they experience difficulties in the early stages of writing, namely the stage of setting the topic of writing. Difficulties that are often encountered around having no ideas to write about, not finding interesting issues to write about, topics that are too broad, and not having related knowledge to answer the chosen problem. It is necessary to carefully apply the procedures set topic. However, there is no reference regarding the procedure. This paper aims to find the procedure for setting topics for writing da'wah articles for novice writers. To examine this, the authors used a qualitative field study approach. Design procedures define topics to apply to novice writer training. Then evaluate the implementation of these procedures in order to find new procedures. New procedures were found: selecting concepts or theories that have been studied and interested in, exploring ideas from certain data sources, connecting development ideas according to the media character of Islamic thought articles and solving social problems, ensuring the development process departs from general facts, uncovering various problem formulations from the results of developing ideas, selecting various alternative problem formulations that can be structured with the concept or theory specified in number 1, ensuring that the topic has never been discussed, finding the uniqueness of the topic, determining conclusions and provisional accountability for the topic that has been selected based on how it works theory or concepts used, concludes the topic, and repeats the steps again.
