Urgensi dan Dinamika Terjemah Al-Qur’an

Abstract

Understanding and conveying the contents of the Qur'an is an obligation for every Muslim individual. However, in practice, attempts to convey the contents of the Qur'an sometimes encounter problems. This is because not all Muslim communities, especially the ‘ajam (non-Arabic) are able to directly understand the Arabic texts of the Qur'an. Therein lies the urgency of translating the Koran, namely as a means to understand the Koran. This article will discuss several matters related to the translation of the Qur'an. First, the definition of Al-Qur'an translation, the classification of Al-Qur'an translation, and the requirements for Al-Qur'an translation. Second, the dynamics and brief history of Al-Qur'an translation, both in eastern and western countries, and specifically the history of Al-Qur'an translation in Indonesia
