Fifty-three million out of 120 million people are the active users of Instagram in Indonesia. Instead of uploading the daily photos, Indonesian people are fond of posting jokes as the representative of social life. Those jokes use language as the primary medium. The use of words utilizes polysemy and homonymy for showing double meaning, so it represents jokes. This qualitative study uses the data of humorous postings on Instagram. After analyzing the data, it is found that the dominant aspects are polysemy and homonymy. Polysemy is shown by the transfer of meaning, the use of terms, and metaphor. Homonymy is viewed by the usage of language tendency, the use of names or titles, the abbreviation, and the divergence of meaning.
