Abstract

Feminism is a series of social movements, political movements and ideologies that have the same goal, namely, to define, build and achieve gender equality in the political, economic, personal, and social spheres. The problems faced by women are related to inequality and injustice which continue to grow, so that is why the concept of Islamic feminists has emerged to answer this. The method in this research is library research which takes resources from books or books both classic and contemporary, book sources that discuss feminism, articles that discuss women. The approach used in this paper is the structural-functional (theory) approach. In analyzing the data and material that has been collected, it uses an analytical descriptive method, which describes the meaning, scope and matters related to the general discussion. Furthermore, the comparative method is used, which is to compare the thoughts and views of several Muslim scholars. The results of the research show that Islam does not have the term feminism because long before this understanding was written down. Islam through the Qur'an has previously explained about the position of rights and obligations of its servants without discrimination. The ideal value of women lies in piety, chastity, and toughness in defending beliefs.
