Efektivitas Implementasi MBKM Berbasis Hasil Riset Kemurnian Karbon Berbahan Dasar Tempurung Kelapa pada Mata Kuliah Termodinamika

Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of the Independent Learning Campus Merdeka  which is oriented towards research results in the Physics Undergraduate Study Program. This study describes the effectiveness of research-based learning on students' ability to understand physics concepts. The learning is carried out through the results of research on the manufacture of high-purity carbon using the concept of oxidation reduction (redox) and will be used as a collaborative learning medium in the Basic Physics course. The carbon produced from organic material in the form of coconut shell was carbonized by the pyrolysis method (closing system) and obtained carbon of 96.075%. Increasing the purity of the sample was carried out in a redox system with a temperature of 3000C for 3 hours and given hydrogen gas as a reducing agent at a rate of 500 mL/minute. The results of SEM-EDX analysis showed an increase in carbon purity of 98.967%. The concept of carbon research is implemented in learning for 60 students. As an analysis of the effectiveness of collaborative learning based on the results of research on carbon purity, two approaches were reviewed, namely surveys before (pretest) and after (posttest) learning. The results showed that the students' understanding improved both the theoretical concepts and the development of science. In addition to having a positive influence on students, it also greatly supports the achievement of the Basic Physics CPMK in the gas and thermodynamics CPMK sub-CPM.
