KUMANDANG SHOLAWAT DI SEKOLAH KRISTEN: A POLICY ON AN INTER-FAITH DIALOGUE IN A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Abstract

Abstrak: Mempertahankan keselarasan kehidupan antaragama harus dilakukan tanpa batas di semua lembaga di negara ini, termasuk di sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan kebijakan tentang dialog antar agama dan perannya dalam menjaga hubungan harmonis antara Muslim dan Kristen di sekolah Kristen. Ini adalah studi kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Kristen (SMPK) Seputih Raman Lampung Tengah. Kepala sekolah, guru Islam dan non-Muslim, dan siswa Muslim dan non-Muslim terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Data dikumpulkan dengan observasi partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa: 1) beberapa program, seperti kunjungan Masjid-Gereja dan sholawat sebagai tanda waktu sholat, terbukti sangat efektif untuk membangun harmoni hubungan Muslim-Kristen. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa dialog antar agama dapat ditanamkan secara efektif di lembaga pendidikan. Selain itu, kebijakan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi teladan yang baik bagi institusi lain.

Abstract: Maintaining the harmony of inter-religious life should be definitely carried out in all institutions in this country including school. This study was aimed at revealing the policy on inter-faith dialogue and its role in maintaining harmonious relationship among the Moslems and Christians in a Christian school. This was a qualitative study with the case study method. The study was conducted in Christian Junior High School of Seputih Raman Lampung Tengah. The principals, Moslem and non-Moslem teachers, and moslem and non-Moslem students were involved in the study. The data were collected by participatory observation and in-depth interviews. The finding of the study revealed that: 1) the leaders at this school has long paid big attention to the policy on inter-faith relationship, 2) the research participants perceived that the brotherhood is not limited by the religion, 3) some programs, such as Mosque-Church visit and salawat as the sign of prayer time, were proven very effective to build the harmony of Moslem-Christian relationship. This study concludes that the inter-faith dialogue could be implanted effectively in educational institution. Furthermore, this policy is expected to be a good role model for other institutions.
