PERADABAN ISLAM DAN BARAT: ANTARA POLA DAN GAYA
Abstract
Islam and the West as factories that create civilization always have opposite sides. This opposite side is a feature to show the foundation of the emergence of civilization. Islam which started everything based on theology-divinity (the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet) gave birth to civilization as a lifestyle with the purpose of equality and equality that gave birth to ethics or functional spaces. In contrast to the West which began its civilization through freedom of thought which gave rise to materialism and secularism as a modern view, giving birth to civilization as a lifestyle with the aim of difference gave birth to aesthetic or symbolic spaces. On this side Islam and the West fight even though civilization has the nature of truth, kindness and beauty.
