74 percent of the land in Indonesia has been controlled by 0.2 percent of Indonesia’s population. This economic giant is determined to enter and control the land in Yogyakarta. The only province in Indonesia that they have not been able to master the land. The 1975 deputy governor’s inauguration that forbade non-indigenous people to own land in the territory of the Yogyakarta court became the object of the governor of Sultan Hamengkubuwono X to deny the desire of ethnic Chinese citizens to own land in Yogyakarta. Under the pretext of history and the economic interests of the people, this instruction is maintained. Looking at the reality of Indonesian economic mastery in general, Yogyakarta is worthy to defend this regulation, but there must be oversight ensuring that the enforcement of these instructions to safeguard the economy of the weak is not for the personal benefit of the king or the royal family.
