PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR TAMBAHAN BAGI SANTRI BERKARAKTERISTIK INTROVERT PADA AKTIVITAS SPEAKING DI KELAS BAHASA INGGRIS SEKOLAH AGAMA BANTUAN KERAJAAN (SABK) DI PULAU PINANG MALAYSIA

Abstract

In teaching and learning process of English class, especially in speaking activity, teacher is the most important element in increases their students’ motivation. Based on preliminary data, which the researcher found, there were 15 students in grade 4 of SABK Al-Madrasah Al-Khairiah Al-Islamiah Pokok Sena Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia which have introverted characteristic. So, based on the need analysis, the researcher felt to develop a special material for 15 introvert students in speaking activities. The steps undertaken by the researcher in conducting this development research is started from doing the need analysis of the students and English teachers in that school, the development of teaching materials in accordance with the results of needs analysis, validation and revision by coordinating the expert in the field of English education in Islamic boarding school, try-out, and last is a revision to produce the final product. The product of this development research is an additional teaching material for students with introverted characteristic in English speaking activities based on cooperative learning approach. The topics of the teaching materials that have been developed are as follows; let's talk, see you in the school, my daily activities, conversation in the morning, my favorite activity, debate activity and promoting.
