Uji Zat Pengatur Tumbuh Terhadap Setek Lada Perdu (Piper nigrum L.) (In Press)

Abstract

Pepper is a commodity of high economic value, but the production is still low due to the use of seeds that are not qualified. The use of seedling from vegetative propagation is the best way to ensure the quality of the seed production. Pepper has been comemercially propaged by rooting of cuttings. To induce roooting in cuttings, use of growth regulators can stimulate root growth. This research was conducted at Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, in order to find the suitable type of PGR to stimulate pepper root growth. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design with one factor plant regulator consisted of seven treatments, Rootone-F 12.5 g /l, coconut water concentration 25%, cow urine concentration 25%, extract of green bean sprouts + 25% moringa leaf extract, 25 % of young corn seed extract + 25% moringa leaf extract, 25% of bamboo shoot extract and 25% of hump banana extract. The observed variables were live crop percentage, percentage of cuttings sprouted, root cutting percentage, shoot length, shoot diameter, root length, dried shoot weight and root dry weight. The results of this study indicate that synthetic plant growth regulators and natural plant growth regulators have a significant effect on the growth of pepper cuttings. The natural plant growth regulator of coconut water with concentration of 25% can increase the growth of pepper cuttings.
